Polk JVs continue run with sweep of Mitchell

Polk County’s junior varsity volleyball team continued its midseason surge Thursday, sweeping Mitchell in straight sets, 26-24, 25-23, in Western Highlands Conference action.

The victory improved Polk County’s record to 8-7 on the season, while Mitchell dropped to 3-10. The win marked Polk’s second triumph in its last three matches as the Wolverines look to build momentum heading into the final stretch of conference play.

Emily Nance led a balanced Polk County attack with five kills and 12 digs, while Claire Lawrence added four kills and four digs. Camdyn Israel-Garrett paced the offense effectively with 12 assists, adding an ace and two digs to her stat line.

The Wolverines’ defense proved crucial in the tight victory, with Ava Evans recording nine digs and Olivia Kirk contributing three. Madalyn Varnadore (two kills, one dig) and Jackie Sankey (one kill) rounded out the scoring for Polk County.

Polk County will look to continue its winning ways when it travels to Mountain Heritage on Tuesday for its next Western Highlands Conference matchup.
