Polk County hammered 13 hits Wednesday en route to a 7-0 rout of North Buncombe in non-conference softball action in Weaverville.

Hayley Kropp’s first-pitch home run in the top of the first innin sparked a four-run outburst that helped the Wolverines, ranked 10th in the state softball coaches 2A poll, improve to 2-0 ahead of Friday’s Western Highlands Conference opener at Madison.

“Awesome team win,” said Polk County head coach Billy Alm. “The offense came alive.”
