Softball’s Scruggs earns first player of the week honors

Polk County softball player Ashley Scruggs has been named the inaugural PolkSports/Bradley Screen Printing player of the week.

Scruggs, a freshman pitcher, earned wins last week over Cherokee and Asheville. In 12 innings of work, she struck out 18 batters, allowing just three hits and a run.

Scruggs improved to 3-0 this season with the two wins.
