Polk County places five on all-WHC softball squad

Five Polk County softball players have earned selection to the 2014 all-Western Highlands Conference squad.

Senior third baseman Brittany Jones, junior second baseman Maddy Foy, junior catcher Ashley Kropp, sophomore shortstop Hayley Kropp and freshman pitcher Ashley Scruggs each received a spot on the all-WHC team, chosen by league coaches.

Conference champion Madison swept the individual honors, with Michaela Drewnoski named the player of the year, Sam Gosnell named the pitcher of the year and Andy Gregg named the coach of the year.

The complete all-WHC softball squad:

Madison: Baylea Loven, Lexie Ammons, Brianna Reed, Hannah Anders, Brooke Vilcinskas, Haley Lunsford

Polk County: Maddy Foy, Brittany Jones, Ashley Kropp, Hayley Kropp, Ashley Scruggs

Mountain Heritage: Sarah Presnell, Kayla Parker, Nyssa Freeman, Courtney Thomas

Owen: Hannah Williams, Amy Bogan, Livie Presley, Anissa Avila

Avery: Laura Cole, Shannon Smith

Hendersonville: Brittany Williams

Mitchell: Whitney Tipton
