Polk offense roars in rout of Hendersonville

Polk County hammered our 14 hits and Haley Fowler tossed a one-hitter Wednesday as the Wolverines routed Hendersonville, 14-0, in Western Highlands Conference softball play in Hendersonville.

The Wolverines (10-6, 6-2) remained tied with Owen for second place in the WHC. The teams meet Friday at 6 p.m. in Owen for both their regularly scheduled game and the completion of a suspended game from last week.

Polk County scored eight runs in the first inning, added two more in the second and three more in the third. The Wolverines added one run in the fifth and final innings.

Fowler, making a rare start, pitched all five innings, striking out eight and allowing the one hit. She also finished 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Autumn Owen led Polk’s offense, going 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI. Karli Wood was 3-for-3 with two RBI while Hayley Kropp was 2-for-2 with two RBI. Hannah Emory and Morgan Stott also had two hits each.
