Polk softball completes stellar week with rout of Hendersonville

1 min read

Polk County wrapped up a very good week Thursday, rolling past Hendersonville 14-0 in a five-inning Western Highlands Conference softball game at Polk.

Ashley Scruggs and Caitlin Britton held Hendersonville to one hit as the Wolverines, already with wins this week over East Rutherford and Madison, improved to 11-1.

“This was a really nice finish to a good week,” said Polk County head coach Jeff Wilson. “The girls were focused, and obviously the long ball is going to be important to us moving forward.”

Polk County had two long balls on Thursday, with Hayley Kropp blasting a grand slam in the third inning and Autumn Owen homering for the second straight game. Kropp finished 2-for-2 with five RBI, with Owen also 2-for-2. Scruggs had three hits, Maranda Gosnell was 2-for-3 and Karli Wood, Kinsley Jackson and Brooke Love were each 1-for-1.

“Ashley Scruggs has had a great week pitching and hitting,” Wilson said.
