Falcon bats soar in upset of Polk County

West Henderson pounded out 14 hits Thursday to upset Polk County, 8-2, in a non-conference softball game on a blustery afternoon at Polk.

The Falcons (4-6) built a 5-0 lead after three and a half innings and held on to hand the Wolverines (7-5) their fourth consecutive loss.

Polk County scored its two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Ansley Lynch and Hannah Emory scored on RBI at-bats by Haley Fowler and Hayley Kropp.

Morgan Stott had two hits to lead Polk County, with Lynch, Emory and Ashley Scruggs accounting for the remainder of Polk County’s five hits.

Polk County returns to action Friday, traveling to Mountain Heritage for a 4 p.m. Western Highlands Conference game.
