Polk County has earned the third seed in the 3A West state girls soccer playoff bracket and will open play on Thursday, May 14.
As the third seed, the Wolverines will face the winner of the first-round match between 14th seeded Piedmont Community Charter (8-7) and 19th seeded Shelby (5-12-1). That match is scheduled to be played Monday.
With a win, Polk County would host a third-round match, with sixth-seeded West Davidson (15-4) the probable opponent barring an upset.

Were Polk County to win that match, the Wolverines could travel to Hendersonville for a fourth-round match. The Bearcats are the second seed in the 3A West field.
While Polk County finished ahead of Hendersonville in the Western Highlands Conference standings and swept the Bearcats, conference finish and head-to-head encounters are not considered for playoff seeding. Only RPI is used to seed teams for the postseason.
Third-round matches are slated for May 18, with fourth-round matches set for May 21.
