Polk County’s girls basketball squad will open the state 2A playoffs on the road, traveling Monday to face East Burke in a 7 p.m. game.
The Lady Cavaliers (19-4) finished second in the South Mountain 2A/3A Conference behind East Rutherford and is the 10th overall seed in the 32-team 2A West bracket. Polk County, 13-9, is seeded 23rd.

East Burke is led by 6-2 senior center Sydney Haas, a Lenoir-Rhyne signee, with 15.3 points per game and wing Lauren Arney, last year’s South Mountain player of the year, at 15.6 points per game.
