“I’m very excited to be given the opportunity to coach at Polk County High School,” Alm said. “I’m looking forward to what the future brings and can’t wait to get started.”
After a stellar playing career at T.C. Roberson High School and Newberry College, Alm became a real estate broker until returning to the sidelines as an assistant coach at PCHS during the 2007-2008 season. She took over the head coaching position at Polk County Middle School in 2008 and earned four division championships in her six seasons at PCMS. The Wolverines posted a 10-3 record this season, sharing the Blue Ridge Middle School Conference Eastern Division title with Rugby.
Alm also led the PCMS volleyball squad to an undefeated season and Blue Ridge conference title. From December: Alm enjoying a year without a loss at Polk Middle
“We are excited to welcome Brandy Alm to Polk County High School,” said Polk County principal Mary Feagan. “Many of our students know her from the middle school and I am sure she will receive a warm welcome. We are very pleased that she has agreed to step up and lead our women’s basketball program.”
A 1998 graduate of T.C. Roberson, Alm played three sports in high school, but starred on the basketball court, twice earning conference player of the year honors and being chosen for both the Blue-White and East-West all-star games. She still holds school records for assists and steals.
She continued her college career at Newberry, earning all-South Atlantic Conference honors as a guard for the Indians. She ranked nationally in 3-point shooting in her senior year.
