Polk County put itself in position to compete for a share of the Western Highlands Conference regular-season volleyball title, downing Owen in straight sets on Thursday in a WHC match in Swannanoa.
The Wolverines posted a 25-10, 25-10, 25-8 win over the Warhorses. Polk County improved to 15-5 overall, 10-1 in WHC play. Polk County trails Hendersonville by a game, with the two teams set to meet next Wednesday at Polk in the final regular-season conference game for both schools. A Wolverine win would mean the teams would split the WHC championship.
Ashley Love had five kills and six aces for the Wolverines, with Cameron Capozzi adding three kills and 10 digs, Lily Owens with four kills and 14 digs, Reagan Waddell with six kills and Savannah Ross with 17 digs and three aces. Kara Overholt posted 10 kills, 19 assists, 10 digs and three aces to lead the Polk attack.

Polk played without starters Sarah Phipps and Kendall Hall, both out with injuries.
The Wolverines begin their final week of regular-season play on Monday, hosting Asheville Christian Academy.
