Wolverines best Hilltoppers in four sets

Polk County bounced back from a third-set loss Thursday to finish off a 3-1 nonconference victory at R-S Central.

The Wolverines controlled the opening two sets by identical 25-19 scores before R-S Central (1-1) responded with a 25-17 win in the third. Polk answered in the fourth, taking a 25-18 victory to close out the match.

Kenzie Alm turned in a strong all-around performance for Polk County (2-0), finishing with 11 kills, 19 assists, 11 digs and four aces. Beija Olivari added 10 kills, 16 digs and three aces, while Reeve Carroll had nine kills and 14 digs.

Claire Lawrence led Polk’s defense with 20 digs. Abby Lewis added 16 assists and 11 digs, and Elena Greve finished with five kills.

The victory improved the Wolverines to 2-0 after their season-opening sweep of East Rutherford. Polk County returns home Tuesday to face West Henderson.
