Polk County celebrated Kendall Hall’s milestone and its own solid performance Monday night, the Wolverines knocking off 3A Enka 3-1 in a non-conference match at Polk.
The Wolverines notched a 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 25-18 victory, their fourth straight win, on a night where Hall recorded the 1,000th dig of her Polk County career.
Polk County (15-4) avenged an early-season loss to Enka (12-3), and that plus Hall’s achivement made for a rather happy Wolverine head coach Molly Hill.

“We’re really playing well right now,” Hill said. “This was a good example of how well we are playing. That’s an extremely good team who already beat us once.
“The girls know how important it is to beat the schools out of our conference. It helps with playoff seeding. I’m very proud of them. They played an excellent match.”
All four sets were close throughout, a seven-point lead the largest of the match for either side. Polk had that margin in the first set at 17-10, only to see the Jets close to within two. Polk County held the lead, though, and closed out the first set on an Ansley Lynch kill.
A tight second set finally swung in Polk County’s favor. Tied at 18, the Wolverines reeled off five of the next six points, capping the spurt with a Reagan Waddell ace for a 23-18 lead. An Ashley Love kill made it 24-20, and an Enka service error eventually ended the set.
The Jets pulled out a third-set win and were tied at 14-14 in the fourth before Polk County scored four straight points, its 18-14 lead forcing Enka to call a timeout. The Jets promptly scored the next three points, only to see the Wolverines close the match with a 7-0 run.
Love had 16 kills and 15 digs for Polk, which also got 13 kills, 13 digs, two aces and 20 service points from Waddell. Hall finished with 25 digs, with Addie Lynch adding nine kills, nine dogs and three aces. Lauren Ketwitz had 12 digs and Savannah Ross had 38 assists, 15 digs and 18 service points.
Polk County has the remainder of the week off before hosting Owen on Monday for Senior Night. The Wolverines could also clinch the WHC regular-season title with a win.
