State volleyball playoffs: Polk County to host Franklin on Saturday

Polk County will open state 2A volleyball playoff action on Saturday, hosting Franklin in a first-round match.

Polk County earned a seventh seed in the 2A West bracket and will host the Panthers at 3 p.m. The game will be a rematch of last year’s first round, when the Wolverines traveled to Franklin and defeated the Panthers.

With a win, the Wolverines would be at home for the second round, hosting either Salisbury or R-S Central.

Hendersonville, with whom Polk County shared the Western Highlands Conference title but the Wolverines won a drawing to be the conference’s top seed, is seeded 11th in the West bracket and will host Trinity before likely having to travel for the remainder of the playoffs, pending results of other matches.
