The Wolverines (3-0) raced through the opening set, building a 13-5 lead on the strength of a Kenzie Alm service run, then closing with strong serving from Breelyn Morrison for the opening-set win.
Canton Middle (0-2) began adjusting to Polk Middle’s serving and led throughout the first part of the second set. But with the Bears up 11-8, Emily Dotson killed a free ball at the net, and then Arie Parmalee took over.
Parmalee ripped three straight aces to give the Wolverines the lead, then kept blasting aces, eventually taking Polk to a 16-11 advantage. Canton never recovered from that service run, with Polk closing the set on a 9-2 spurt to seal the match.
Polk Middle will be back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Apple Valley Middle for a 4:30 p.m. match.
