Rosman keeps Polk offense in check to notch 3-0 win

Polk County ran into another strong pitching performance Wednesday.

After being held to one hit Friday at Chase, the Wolverines were limited to four hits by Rosman’s Elizabeth Daves, her effort leading a 3-0 Tigers victory in a non-conference game at Polk.

Daves struck out seven in the win. Polk had one serious scoring threat, that coming in the seventh as Katelynn Arrowood drew a leadoff walk and Chloe Young dropped a single into shallow right field.

But Daves struck out two of the next three batters to end Polk’s hopes for a rally and allow Rosman to improve to 7-4 overall.

Polk County (6-6) got base hits from Mia Bradley, Sarah Vitale, Young and Kayleigh Wilson.

Wolverine pitcher Kynley Lawter allowed five hits and surrendered just one earned run.

Polk County is scheduled to host R-S Central on Tuesday in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference matchup.
