Scruggs named to All-WNC softball squad

Polk County recent graduate Aslyn Scruggs has been named to the All-Western North Carolina softball squad by the Citizen-Times in Asheville.

Scruggs earned a spot on the All-WNC second team as an outfielder. She hit .673 this season, recording a hit in every game but one. She had two or more hits in 13 games and finished the season with a 13-game hitting streak.

Her batting average placed her 16th among all state hitters and third among hitters in 3A.

Owen’s Mia Roland, who led all 3A hitters with a .765 batting average, was named the All-WNC Player of the Year. Robbinsville’s Billy Knight was named the Coach of the Year after leading the Black Knights to the state 1A title.
