First-inning rally helps boost Brevard past Polk County

Brevard scored seven first-inning runs Thursday and went on to hand Polk County a 17-4 defeat in a non-conference softball game in Brevard.

The Blue Devils (3-2) also put together a seven-run fourth inning to set the stage for a five-inning win. Polk County dropped to 2-4 overall.

Alana Jergenson finished 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI to lead Polk County. It marked the second straight game with a home run for the Tusculum signee.

Jessie Emory was 1-for-2 with an RBI while Katelyn Arrowood, Chloe Young and Emily Prince each had one hit.

Polk County will be back in action on April 12, traveling to Mountain Heritage for a Western Highlands Conference game.
