Polk County’s softball team will open play Monday in the state 1A playoffs against Uwharrie Charter School, according to brackets released Saturday by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
The Wolverines (5-8) received the sixth seed in the NCHSAA’s random drawing and will host the Eagles (6-3), who placed third in the Yadkin Valley 1A Conference.
The winner of Monday’s game will face either Mountain Island Charter or Swain.
Uwharrie enters off a 6-5 non-conference loss to Richmond County. In that loss to 4A Richmond County, pitcher Mollie Bulla struck out 11 and went 3-for-4 at the plate.
