Polk County’s softball team will open play Monday in the state 1A playoffs against Uwharrie Charter School, according to unofficial brackets released Saturday by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
The Wolverines (5-8) received the sixth seed in the NCHSAA’s random drawing and will host the Eagles (6-3), who placed third in the Yadkin Valley 1A Conference.
The brackets will be made official later Saturday.

The winner of Monday’s game will face either Mountain Island Charter or Swain.
