Polk County will look to continue its soccer playoff odyssey on Wednesday, traveling to face perennial power Forbush at 7 p.m. in the third round of the state 2A playoffs.

The Falcons (18-3-1) shared the Western Piedmont Athletic Conference regular-season title with West Stokes, whom the Wolverines (16-4) defeated on Saturday, 1-1 (3-2), to advance.

Forbush has allowed just 11 goals this season, six of those coming in a season-opening loss to Mount Tabor. The Falcons have won 10 of their last 11 matches with shutouts, the only blemish a 1-0 loss to West Stokes.

The match will feature two volleyball players heading for college play in goal – Polk County’s Kara Overholt (Coker) and Forbush’s Jessica Funk (Lenoir-Rhyne).

Junior midfielder Madison York leads the Forbush attack.
