Polk County Middle displayed its offensive versatility Monday afternoon, using goals from four different players to secure a 5-1 victory over Flat Rock Middle in Blue Ridge Conference girls soccer action at Utz Field.
The Wolverines (6-2-1) overcame a sluggish start with precise passing and tactical adjustments that gradually overwhelmed the Eagles (4-4).
“We started off slow,” said Polk Middle head coach Blair Ruth. “Good passing, though, and we turned it around. Got a couple of quick ones, bumped it up, made it 5-1 and we could smooth sail after that.”

Amberina Jenne provided the offensive spark with two goals, while Kenley Savaia, Melina Parmalee and Natalie Eberlin-Morgan each added single tallies to complete the balanced scoring effort.
The win continues a strong recent stretch for Polk County Middle, which has collected three victories in its last four matches. The Wolverines’ resilience was particularly evident in their previous contest, securing a hard-fought 1-1 draw against East Division-leading Brevard Middle.
“We’re coming around a lot,” Ruth said. “We’ve just got to connect three and four passes after pressuring the ball. We’ve got to stay active off the ball. But all around, we’re playing well. We’re coming through and we’re improving a lot.”
Polk Middle is set to travel Thursday to Flat Rock Middle for a 4:30 p.m. rematch.
