Polk County senior Sammie Firby has been selected to play in the East-West All-Star girls soccer game in July in Greensboro.

Firby, who has signed to play next seasonĀ at Gardner-Webb, is on pace to lead the Wolverines in goals scored for the third time in four seasons. She scored two goals Thursday in leading Polk County to a 4-0 win over Avery.

The East-West game is set for July 21 at UNC-Greensboro and will feature top high school players from throughout North Carolina. Hough’s David Smith will coach the West term on which Firby will play.
