Heading into a Western Highlands Conference showdown with Owen, Polk County’s girls soccer squad remains ranked 11th in this week’s North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association state 2A poll.

The Wolverines, 13-3, host 7th-ranked Owen (16-2) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Wolverine Stadium.

WHC rival Hendersonville is ranked 10th in this week’s poll, with conference foe Avery County ranked 15th in the state 1A poll.

The top five include West Stokes, Lake Norman Charter, First Flight, Carrboro and Forbush.
