Polk County earned Monday its eighth straight victory, defeating Thermal Belt rival Landrum 3-1 in a non-conference girls soccer match in Landrum.

The No. 6 Wolverines (9-2) received two goals from Sammie Firby and another from Megan Clements in defeating the Cardinals. Firby, Clements and Lyric Flood each added assists for Polk County.

The Wolverine junior varsity also earned a win, recording a 1-0 triumph. Jessica Bentley scored on an assist by Hanna O’Brien for Polk County.

The Wolverines return to Western Highlands Conference play on Wednesday, traveling to Hendersonville to face the Bearcats in a 7 p.m. game.
