Staton pours in 37 as Polk romps past Chase

Bailey Staton scored 37 points Thursday to lead Polk County to an 80-16 victory over Chase in a non-conference girls basketball matchup at Polk.

Staton finished one point shy of Hayley Kropp’s school record for points in a game, connecting on six 3-pointers on a night where the Wolverines (2-0) built a 50-13 halftime lead and cruised to the victory.

Amiyah Waters added 12 points for Polk County. Reeve Carroll scored 10, Charley Dusenbury had eight, Honesty Jackson finished with six, Amber Chupp added four and Sofie Abrahamsen scored three.

Chase fell to 0-2.

Polk County hosts East Henderson on Tuesday.
