Polk County built a 32-19 halftime lead and pulled away in the second half for a 63-40 victory over Brevard in Wednesday’s non-conference girls basketball action in Brevard.

The Wolverines (14-2) dominated the first half with a 32-point performance and maintained control throughout, outscoring the Blue Devils 19-9 in the third quarter to seal the victory.

Bailey Staton led Polk County with 36 points. Amiyah Waters added 14, Reeve Carroll finished with six, Honesty Jackson scored three and Charley Dusenbury and Jeri Allen each added two.

Brevard fell to 1-15.

Polk County is scheduled to travel to Mitchell on Friday for a Western Highlands Conference game.
