Polk ends Hendersonville’s run in boys tennis rivalry

2 min read

Polk County served notice Thursday that it may well play a key role in the Western Highlands Conference boys tennis race this spring.

The Wolverines handed traditional league power Hendersonville a 6-3 loss in a WHC match at Polk County. The Wolverines won four of the six singles matches, then took wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to make their conference opener a very good day.

“This is the first time we have beaten Hendersonville in the past six years and only the second time since I have been coaching tennis here (10 years),” said Polk County head coach Richard Davis. “We are 1-0 in the conference for the first time in quite a while as well. Hopefully, the good fortunes will continue.”
