Brad Blackwell scored the winning goal with some 15 minutes left in Wednesday’s match with Hendersonville, lifting Polk County to a 2-1 win at Dietz Field.

The Wolverines (5-3, 3-0) handed Hendersonville its first conference loss and took over sole possession of first place in the Western Highlands Conference. The Bearcats dropped to 9-5, 5-1 with the loss.

Polk County held a 1-0 halftime lead as Jeremy Alsbrook fed Wil Rimer for the first tally of the match. Hendersonville responded in the first minute of the second half before Polk got the game winner as Isaais Akers headed the ball to Blackwell.
