
Six Polk County players have been named to the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association 2A Region 11 all-region team.
Seniors Jeremy Allsbrook, Tom Artmeier, Brad Blackwell, Wil Rimer, Nate Smart and Garrett Weicker all were chosen for the squad, which includes 2A schools from the Western Highlands Conference as well as Brevard, Franklin and Smoky Mountain.
The six seniors helped lead Polk County to a 17-5-1 record, the WHC regular-season title and the third round of the state 2A playoffs.
Rimer, the WHC player of the year, finished the season with 40 goals and 12 assists. Allsbrook set a school single-season record with 30 assists and added 11 goals. Smart had 12 goals and eight assists while Artmeier, an exchange student from Germany, had four goals and four assists and had the game-winning goal in the Wolverines’ playoff victory over Shelby.
Blackwell and Weicker anchored a Polk County defense that recorded three shutouts during the season.
