Polk County goalkeeper Greyson Ball stops a Brevard shot during the first half of Wednesday's match

Polk County’s boys soccer season likely came to an end Wednesday with a 5-0 loss to Brevard in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference clash in G.M. Tennant Stadium.

The Wolverines completed the regular season with a 3-13-1 record, including 3-9 in conference play. Polk County’s RPI is currently 37th among 2A West teams and the Wolverines are not expected to earn a wild-card berth into the state 2A playoffs.

Brevard (9-10-2, 7-5) opened a 2-0 halftime lead, then had a flurry of goals late in the second half to account for the final margin.
