
Polk County’s boys soccer teams each suffered losses Wednesday at Smoky Mountain.
The Wolverine varsity dropped a 2-1 decision while the Polk junior varsity fell 3-0.
Polk County (4-4-2) took a 1-0 lead at halftime, but the Mustangs (2-7-2) rallied in the second half as Gavin Baer scored two goals, one on an assist from Casey Dixon, to secure the victory.
Mathias Saunooke had nine saves for Smoky Mountain.
Polk County is set to be back in action on Monday, hosting Chase for a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference matchup. Junior varsity play will begin at 5 p.m., with the varsity following at 6:45 p.m. Both matches will be shown live on NFHS Network.
