Polk County’s boys soccer team will receive a special send-off Friday morning as the Wolverines depart for Saturday’s 3A state championship match in Greensboro.
The team will leave Polk County High School at 9:30 a.m. with a police escort through downtown Columbus. The escort will travel through the roundabout near Tractor Supply, back through town and onto Highway 74.
Fans are encouraged to line the route anywhere in downtown Columbus to show their support for the undefeated Wolverines.

Polk County (18-0-3) will face Wallace-Rose Hill at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Guilford College. The Wolverines are seeking their first state championship since 2003 and are making their first state final appearance since 2006.
