Alley, Meyer, Garrison earn 3A all-state honors; four named to all-region squad

Polk County’s Cooper Meyer and Will Garrison have been named to the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association 3A All-State team, with head coach George Alley named the 3A Coach of the Year.

The NCSCA released its all-state teams and all-region teams on Monday. Polk County placed four players on the 1A/2A/3A Far West All-Region team: Meyer, Garrison, Mason Hudson and Thomas Varnadore.

Meyer led Polk County in scoring with 25 goals and 13 assists, his 63 points helping lead the Wolverines to the state 3A final. Garrison anchored a defense that only allowed 18 goals all season and produced 11 shutouts.

Alley guided Polk to the fourth state final in school history, winning the Western Highlands Conference regular-season title and posting the first unbeaten regular season in school history.
