WHC basketball tourney cancels Thursday games, Polk County out of event

1 min read

With inclement weather still affecting the area, Western Highlands Conference officials have decided to cancel Thursday’s semifinals of the league’s postseason basketball tournament.

The WHC will now attempt to play two championship games on Friday matching the top two boys and girls seeds. Thus Mountain Heritage will face Madison in the girls final while Avery faces Mountain Heritage in the boys final. The playing of those games, of course, will hinge upon the weather.

The league had hoped to play all four semifinals on Thursday, with the Polk County girls and boys, each seeded third, slated to play.
