Polk County’s defense held R-S Central without a field goal in the second half as the Wolverines posted a 47-26 victory in Thursday’s junior varsity boys basketball matchup at Polk.
R-S Central (0-8) scored just two free throws in the third quarter and was held scoreless in the fourth as Polk County pulled away. The Hilltoppers managed just 18 first-half points before the Wolverines’ defense clamped down.
Keyan Simpson led Polk County (2-9) with 20 points, including 13 in the first half. RJ Simpson added 11, with six coming in the third quarter.

Carlos Oliviera finished with six, Benji Ballenger, Jackson Blotner, Dre Thompson and Mason Morris each scored two, and Brennan Oates and Matt Jarrett added one apiece.
Polk County travels to Avery on Tuesday for a Western Highlands Conference game.
