Aaron Jackson closed his Polk County career with 10 points Wednesday night, finishing third on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,304 career points as the Wolverines fell to Mountain Heritage 66-49 in the first round of the Western Highlands Conference Tournament in Marshall.
The second-seeded Cougars (16-7) used a dominant 23-9 second quarter to pull away from seventh-seeded Polk County (3-22), building a 37-21 halftime advantage and advancing to face the winner of Wednesday’s Owen-Avery game.
Khristian Littlejohn led the Wolverines with 23 points in his final game. Chase Stansbury added eight, Curtis Simmons and Blake Anderson each scored three and Nolan Simpson finished with two.

Mountain Heritage outscored Polk County 43-28 in the second and fourth quarters to pull away after the teams played relatively even in the first and third periods.
Polk County is not projected to earn a 3A playoff berth when pairings are announced Saturday.
