Phipps’ big night leads Polk County JV boys to victory

Paced by Brett Phipps’ 26 points, Polk County’s junior varsity boys earned their first win of the season Friday, defeating Madison 66-53 at Polk County.

Phipps led a fourth-quarter explosion as the Wolverines outscored the Patriots 24-9 in the quarter.

Jayron Bontrager had 12 points and Rustin Muse and Kendal Wilkins each had 11 as Polk County hit seven 3-pointers in the game, led by Bontrager’s three.

“Any time you have four guys in double figures, you’re going to do well,” said Polk County head junior varsity coach Jon Hampton.

The JV Wolverines return to action Tuesday at T.C. Roberson.
