Patriot JVs pull away in second half to down Wolverines

Madison outscored Polk County 40-18 in the second half to pull away for a 57-32 victory in Thursday’s Western Highlands Conference junior varsity boys basketball matchup at Polk.

The Patriots made 17 of 25 free throws in the second half to help secure the victory. The game was tied 14-14 at halftime before Madison took control with a 17-12 third quarter and a 23-6 fourth-quarter advantage.

Keyan Simpson led Polk County (4-14) with nine points. Brennan Oates and Dre Thompson each added eight, Gabe Stansbury scored three, RJ Simpson finished with two, and Wells Highsmith and Jackson Blotner each had one.

Polk County is scheduled to host Avery on Friday for another Western Highlands Conference game.
