Polk County’s Shaq Wingo

Mitchell exploded for 35 second-half points Friday to hand Polk County a 51-26 setback in boys junior varsity basketball play in Ledger.

The Wolverines (9-11) forged a 16-16 halftime tie before the Mountaineers heated up in the second half to pull away for the victory.

Shaq Wingo had nine points for Polk County, with Bryson Edwards adding six. Brandon West and Davin Hines each scored four points, with Ben Hardin adding two and Nate Mann scoring one.

Kanye Staley grabbed nine rebounds for the Wolverines, who conclude their season on Tuesday at Mountain Heritage.
