Gary, Phipps, Jones chosen for West vs. Midwest All-Star game

Polk County seniors Clark Phipps and Amir Gary have been chosen to play in the 2019 West vs. Midwest 1A All-Star basketball games.

Polk County head coach Lemont Jones has also been selected as an assistant coach for the Midwest squad.

Phipps and Gary will suit up for the Midwest in the game set for March 23 at Mitchell High School. The girls all-star game will begin at 5 p.m., with the boys to follow at 6:30 p.m.

Phipps led the Wolverines in scoring this season, averaging 18.4 points per game, and rebounding with 4.7 per game. Gary averaged 9.4 points per game and hit a team-high 44 3-pointers.

Lincoln Charter’s Bradley Gabriel will serve as the Midwest head coach, with Mitchell’s Chad Dellinger and Jones serving as assistant coaches.
