Barber’s 17 points help Polk JVs continue win streak

The hottest basketball team in Polk County continues to be the Wolverine junior varsity boys.

Polk County won its third straight game and sixth in its last seven on Friday with a 37-33 win over Mitchell in a Western Highlands Conference game at Polk.

The Wolverines (8-4, 2-1) pulled away down the strech to secure the conference win thanks in part to Chan Barber, who scored 17 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Wes Royster finished with eight points and Bryson Edwards added seven. Shaq Wingo scored three points, with Nate Henderson adding two.

Polk County returns to the court on Thursday, hosting Brevard.
