Polk County’s regular season basketball finale will have to wait yet again.
The Wolverines’ trip to Owen on Saturday has been postponed as Buncombe County Schools mandated that none of its schools could play basketball until Monday. Polk County will now travel to Owen on Monday to complete its season.
The delays, coupled with Avery County’s postponement of its games with Hendersonville, also means that the start of the Western Highlands Conference tournament will also be postponed. The WHC tourney was slated to begin on Monday at 5 p.m. With conference play not completed by then, the tournament will be delayed, though no official announcement has been made at this point.
