Wolverines take fifth in final regular-season WHC match

Polk County’s boys golf team began to shake off the post-spring break rust on Tuesday, placing fifth in a Western Highlands Conference match at Mountain Air Golf Club.

The Wolverines had a team total of 394 on the day. Hendersonville won the event with a team score of 310.

“Narrow course. We struggled on the first nine holes,” said Polk County head coach Pat McCool. “We’re still getting better every day.”

Junior Gabe O’Brien had a round of 48-41–89 to lead the Wolverines, who will now prepare for Monday’s first round of the WHC Tournament at Black Mountain Golf Club.
