Wolverine golfers have best match of season at Bright’s Creek

Polk County’s boys golf team delivered Wednesday what head coach Pat McCool called its best performance of the year in a head-to-head match against Landrum at Bright’s Creek.

The Cardinals earned a 20-shot win, posting a team score of 172, but the Wolverines finished with a 192 and had two players post their best scores of the season.

Josh Chupp had a season-low 45 while Gabe O’Brien had a season-low 46 and earned closest to the pin honors. Dillion Overholt also posted a 46.

Landrum’s Will Owens earned medalist honors with a score of 39.

The Wolverines return to action on Tuesday at Grassy Creek Golf and Country Club.
