“I am extremely proud of this team,” Polk Middle coach Kenny Hall said. “After the first day, there were a lot of heads hung low with disappointment, and we just talked about that all we can do is move forward and try to play better the next day. We weren’t out of it, but they needed to play well when it matters.

“Sure enough they went out and had amazing golf performances, everyone on the team. Eighth graders Owen Justice, Waylon Hill, Ethan Dotson and Austin Love have been great leaders and representatives of our school this year and we can all be proud of them not only for what they’ve accomplished this week, but for the young men that they are.”

Bethel’s Malachi Messer won medalist honors with rounds of 37-36 for a two-day total of 73. Messer’s performance included a hole-in-one.

Graham Hall of Rugby Middle finished second with rounds of 35-39 for a 74. Bethel’s Bennett Williams and Polk Middle’s Owen Justice tied for third at 79. Justice shot rounds of 41-38.

For the Wolverines, Waylon Hill had rounds of 44-40 for an 84, Ethan Dotson carded rounds of 50-49 for a 99, Austin Love shot 57-51 for a 107 and Joshua Thorstad finished with rounds of 63-59 for a 122.
