Tourin Jackson fired an 81 to lead Polk County to a third-place finish at Monday’s Western Highlands Conference golf match at Rumbling Bald Resort in Lake Lure.
Mitchell won the team title with a score of 327, followed by Avery (334), Polk County (346), Madison (354), Hendersonville (359), Owen (380) and Mountain Heritage (387).
Owen’s Carson Murphy was medalist with a 69, followed by Avery’s Hank Johnson (75) and Mountain Heritage’s Carson Anglin (79).

Jackson placed eighth overall for Polk County. Piercen Edwards shot 85 to finish 13th, Brody Wilkins posted an 87 for 15th place, Gage Harden shot 93 for 20th and Tallis Metcalf finished 24th with a 97.
The Wolverines are back in action Wednesday, facing WHC schools in an 18-hole match at Hendersonville Country Club.
