Polk golfers enjoy solid day at Grassy Creek

Polk County’s boys golf team continued its climb Tuesday toward the upper half of the Western Highlands Conference during a conference match at Grassy Creek Golf and Country Club.

The Wolverines placed fifth in the WHC match, but trailed fourth-place Owen by just 24 strokes. Gabe O’Brien had an 83 and Dillion Overholt an 88 to lead the Wolverines.

“Our goal was to be able to shoot under 380, and we reached that goal today,” said Polk County head coach Pat McCool. “We continue to improve.”

Blake Rackley notched his first birdie of the season during the competition.

Polk County is now off until April 19, when the Wolverines travel to Mountain Air Country Club for another WHC match.
