Improving Polk golfers compete in Village Greens tri-match

Dillion Overholt fired a 45 Tuesday to lead Polk County’s boys golf team in its three-way battle with Spartanburg Christian and Shannon Forest at Village Greens Golf Club in Gramling.

Led by medalists Nick Willis and Parker Lewis, who each had a 39, Spartanburg Christian had a team total of 162 to win the event. Shannon Forest had a 182, with the Wolverines posting a 215. Shannon Forest’s Hank Tuttle also posted a 39.

Josh Chupp followed Overholt with a 54, with Gabe O’Brien adding a 56 and Blake Rackley posting a 60 to round out Polk County’s team scoring. Also playing for the Wolverines were Nick Wilson (64), Mitchell Yoder (70) and Isaias Akers (70).

Polk County head coach Pat McCool cited the team’s improved play.

The Wolverines return to the links on Thursday, traveling to Meadowbrook for a Western Highlands Conference tournament.
