Ballard earns medalist honors in WHC match at Grassy Creek

Will Ballard fired a 2-over-par 74 Tuesday to earn medalist honors in a six-team Western Highlands Conference match at Grassy Creek in Spruce Pine.

Ballard’s 74 was good enough to top runner-up Daniel Childress of Avery by three shots.

Polk County placed fourth in the team standings with a score of 366. Avery took top honors with a 334.
