Polk County took control early, scoring twice in the second inning when Oakley Whiteside and Will Jarrett both walked and stole bases before Matt Jarrett delivered a run-scoring single.

The Wolverines added another run in the third when Denton singled, stole second and third, then scored on a passed ball. The aggressive baserunning continued in the fourth as Polk County scored three runs on three walks and a Chase error while recording seven stolen bases in the frame.

A five-run fifth inning sealed the win. The outburst began with Will Jarrett reaching on an error and scoring on another error following a double steal with Meyer. After Meyer scored on a balk, Matt Jarrett singled and stole second before Simms Harris doubled him home. Jonathan Painter added an RBI single to cap the scoring.

Denton handled pitching duties for the Wolverines, working all five innings while allowing eight hits and four runs, three earned, with four strikeouts.

Chase dropped to 2-8 with the loss.

Polk County returns to action Thursday, traveling to Landrum for a non-conference matchup.
